The real question should be if you trust the grocer. I could eat and have eaten raw meat but it would have to be very fresh.
You would be OK, I think, if your grocer throws out old food quickly. If you find items past the expiration date, you should go somewhere else. However, even the best places make a mistake from time to time but the probabilities of getting bad dough at a fine location are practically 0 so go ahead if you think it is a good idea.

It should be okay, but you never know if the plant that it was processed in that day had some bacterial issues....its always best to do the cookin'
My husband eats it raw, but that is usually only if I actually make the cookie dough, not store bought.

I'm sure you could probably get salmonilla, but it's one of those risks worth taking. I ate raw cookie dough while pregnant which is a double no-no, but like I said, the enjoyment factor outweighs the possibility of illness.

Read the label. If pasteurized eggs are used, it's generally okay.
If not, avoid eating it if you have a weak or suppressed immune system (older folks, people on certain meds, little kids, etc.).
The danger is salmonella from unpasteurized eggs. (The germs are on the shells and get into the egg once cracked.)

I've been eating it this way for a while and I love it. There;s no health risk in it. Cooking the dough does litlle more than expand it and make it warm.

I have never heard of any store cookie dough having any problems.
I think that has more to do with home made cookie dough.

MY whole family ate it for years and wea reall still here (maybe a bit fatter though) to still talk about it! My assumption would be that the eggs in it would be pasteurized.

Moderation. Although it contains and all the salmonella blah blah, just eat in moderation - not too much.
It probably won't harm you, but it's sure bad for your appetite !

The eggs are pasteurized first so you should be ok. It's never hurt me or my boyfriend.
