Yes, but the source cited says in your baggage. Sounds like you need a folding one and it really makes sense these days so that it is not out in the open and no one trips over it or takes it away from you to use in a harmful way.

"Walking Canes - allowed in carry-on baggage once they have been inspected to ensure that prohibited items are not concealed."

I have seen many canes in the cabin. Sometimes the flight attendant will put the cane in the overhead bin for you after you sit down, but will take it down for you again during the flight so you can get to the lavatory. Sometimes they let you leave it against the side of the plane if you have a window seat, or let you hold on to it. I don't know the official rule, but from what I've seen, it's not a big deal. Airlines certainly don't want passengers falling on their planes.

Yes, you will be able to take it on the plane with you, it will just have to go through the xray machine to be examined.

I strongly advise calling your airline and requesting a wheelchair escort to the gate. They will put a note on your reservation and when you check in they will call for a w/c. If you have mobility issues this can be extremly helpful as the gate may be quite far from the ticket counter. You can always cancel the request when you check in.

Also, if you request a w/c escort and decide you don't want or need it, you may be able to get a gate pass for a friend or family member to escort you to your gate and another for a person meeting you at your destination. Simply tell the ticket agent that you will need some assistance and would like a gate pass for the person with you. They will need to have a valid ID. The person meeting you at your destionation will need to go to the ticket counter and give them your name and flight number, and have a vaild ID. The ticket agent will look up your reservation, verify you have requested to have someone meet you at the gate, and issue a gate pass.

I didn't know about the whole gate pass thing until a very nice ticket agent at Alaska asked if I'd like to have my husband escort me to the gate after telling her that I didn't think I'd need a w/c. It was sooo much eaiser having him deal with my carry on while I got my service dog through security. The only problem my sister had getting a gate pass to meet me when I arrived was that my friend had made my reservation and the ticket agent couldn't find it in the computer.

Yes- call ahead and inform the airline that you have limited mobility. they will seat you in the first row of coach so that it is easier for you to get on and off the plane. plus they can arrange a cart to drive you to and from your gate at the airport

The cane may have to be deposited and taken back at destination: they will probably ask you to use wheelchair facility, if it's red alert times.

if you have any problems walking, the airlines will help you out, with a wheel chair or an electric cart. just call them and tell them what your issue is and they will help you all the way from start to finish. this has been my experience with northwest airlines.
