I bought a frozen lasagna for dinner tonight because we are havingt some friends over and I thought it would only take one hour to bake, but it takes two. Is there anyway I can bake it in one hour? Can I turn the temp up?

I hate trying to thaw things in the Microwave but it is possible. You just have to watch it carefully or you could put in the sink and pour boiling water over it but that will just help on the outside.

Again you can put it in a conventional oven, watch it carefully and play around with the temperature. They tell you that new technologies make it so much easier but I think microwaves are lousy for thawing and you can burn something quickly in an oven so just relax, thaw it carefully and you shold still have a great dinner.

Remember to take the Lasagna out of the metal pan first if you Micro. it a bit first. I have a VERY difficult time believing that ANY Lasagna takes 2 hours........and I'm a chef. I usually cover it with foil to retain the moisture and cook faster, then remove the foil for the last 30 min. Bake at 350 for a total of 50 to 85 min. More cheese can be added after you take the foil off. If you want an even browner crispier top, broil about 4 inches below the broiler and watch constantly.it burns quickly!

Freezing uncooked lasagne does work using fresh pasta, but I actually prefer making it with dried lasagne sheets and part cooking. The flavours seem to develop better that way. I cover the dish with foil so the top doesn't brown, and don't add any grated cheese on top until I'm ready to finish cooking and serve, that way I avoid having the tough stringy bits that are a dead giveaway it's been frozen.

deplate it from the cold container, use a thin microwavable container. Thaw and cook in microwave oven without need to observe it everytime by simply adding thawtime+cooktime and doubling this time for your setting. prevent splatters with a clear wrap or simply use the container cover but not locked. as for standing time, take out of the micro if already done else leave it inside to allow standing heat to firmly cook

Don't microwave it first, you'll get sick...he probably meant to say place it in the microwave, however use the DEFROST setting in order to thaw it out a bit prior to baking it in the oven. Good luck!!

Place it lower in the oven but keep an eye on it, remember it's closer to the flame and you don't want the bottom to burn. Good time to pull out the thermometer to monitor the inside temp
