I just want to lose a little weight, and I don't want to have to buy anything. I starting doing situps. I just wanted something to do with them while I listen to music or watch tv. Any suggestions?

Make sure you are doing situps the right way...

Training the abs:

I have found the abs to be one of the more challenging muscle groups to train because if you don’t diet and cut the fat, it won’t show externally that you have strong abs. Although a six-pack that shows is not crucial to strength (since one that doesn’t show could be just as strong), it serves as a motivational factor, making you want to work the abs harder when you see progress. I also have a hard time finding a good ab exercise that is both time economical and gives me a good burn. Hanging straight-leg raises is such an exercise, but is not convenient to do if you don’t have a bar to hang from. Follow these training suggestions when working the abs:

• When training the midsection, think of it as training the entire trunk, including the back and sides of your body.

• Do ab work with controlled speed in both the positive and the negative phase. If you use explosive moves you create momentum and the exercise becomes less efficient, because the muscles don’t need to tense throughout the entire range of motion.

• When doing situps, crunches, or leg lifts, focus on drawing in your abs rather than pushing them out. This helps you press your lower back into the floor, keeping it from arching, and eventually allowing you to do these exercises without the support of your hands under your lower back. Place a 10-pound weight plate on your abs to remind you to draw them in.

• Don’t do situps or leg lifts with straight legs until you have built up a very good strength base. Some people say that you should never do straight leg situps. My opinion is that such advice is a bit extreme, but I recommend proceeding with caution. Straight leg situps do increase the risk of injury since they might cause you to arch your back if you lack significant strength. Either bend your legs or place your hands under your lower back.

• Don’t allow your abs to rest during a set of exercises. For example, if doing situps or crunches, don’t allow your shoulders to touch the floor between each rep. You want to keep constant tension on your abs throughout the set. If doing hanging leg or knee raises, don’t straighten your legs completely on the downward motion. This would relieve the stress on your abs and make the exercise easier.

• Do situps without a partner holding your feet. If your partner holds your feet, or if you hook your feet under a bar or sofa, you can cheat by using your legs to pull yourself up. You know when this happens because your legs, and not your abs, are getting tired.

A question that is often raised is whether the full situp is good for building abdominal strength, or if it is better to do a partial situp. The abs are used primarily during the first 30 degrees of the situp. Then the hip flexors take over, which are strong muscles with the function of bringing the legs toward the upper body, or the upper body toward the legs. So full situps don’t work the abs more than partial situps. However, there is no harm in doing them. Note that the rectus abdominis muscle also works through about 15 degrees of spinal extension, which means that in order to get full benefit from your ab workout, you should avoid lying on a hard floor that prevents you from extending your spine. This is one reason the stability ball is a good ab training device.

Exercise or no exercise you won't be able to lose the weight if you don't cut your food intake but we all know that's pretty hard, right? A good appetite suppressant can help you out big time but it has to be natural or you can get into serious heath problems.

I lost 38 lbs in 2 months by using garcinia cambogia extract (FDA approved 100% natural). In my first month 26 and then 12 the second month. I was an emotional eater and these supplements changed my life. They act like an appetite suppressant so I didn't feel like eating anymore. Not hungry anymore -> Lower calories -> Lose weight, simple as that. I did no exercises just 20 minutes walks 5 days a week.

It's been 4 months since I lost the weight and I did not gain any pounds back, actually I lost another 5 lbs (I stop taking them after I lost the weight). If you want to take a look here is a website where you can find discounts: http://www.garciniacambogiapromo.com I got them 30% off from here. Hope this helps!

Unfortunately there is no way to spot-reduce any part of your body. Fat is fat, regardless of where it is. And the only way to lose fat is to take in fewer calories than you're expending. You can do this in one of two ways: diet or exercise. (Or both.) The benefit of doing sit-ups or crunches is that you tighten the abdominal muscles beneath any belly fat you have. So, even if you don't lose weight (or fat), you can make your tummy *appear* to be somewhat slimmer just by virtue of the fact that your muscles pull everything up and in.

A simple exercise while you're watching TV is just simple walking in place or some similar activity. Side steps, jump rope (a really good one!), jumping jacks, dancing, or even just doing that kind of tai-bo punching stuff, etc. Anything that gets you moving and gets your heart rate up and something you can sustain for at least 20 minutes at a time. Good luck to you!

Hi (askername) Belly fat is a problem for a lot of people and I have heard that it leads to diabetes and heart disease in some people. You need to eat right and exercise right to get rid of the belly fat, and sit ups and crunches isn’t necessarily the way to do it. The truth about abs can give you some insight into what you can do to decrease belly fat and what foods to eat to burn fat. Good Luck.

just because you do sit ups, doesnt mean the fat will come off of that area.

you dont need to buy anything. personally, running never did anything for me, i hated it (i dont like to run unless something is chasing me). the two of the best ways i found to burn fat; swimming, and dancing.

swimming is great if you can find a heated pool in the neighborhood (or own one). we dont all have one of those (LOL), so dancing it is.

dancing burns fat, builds muscle and is a great for the heart. the more muscle you have, the more fat it consumes for energy, so its great all around.

so, turn up the music and dance (i mean really DANCE !) around the house for a bit. dance, NOT little bee bop'n... i mean dance like you were out with your best friends at a night club going all out!

if you can for a 1/2 hour thats great. if not, its ok, just start where you are comfortable, and bump your time up week by week.

do it during weekdays, or every other day. take the weekends off if you want. you may be sore at first or you may not. either way, dont stop your new exercise daily.

lay off soda (hard part for me) nope, not even diet soda. if you cut it out, you'll drop 10 lbs easy; dont eat snacks after 5 or 6pm (nothing but water after that); dont skip meals (it makes your body retain fat more) and you'll see the weight come off weekly.

worked like a charm for me.

Watch this video at http://www.customizedfatloss.link to learn how you can lose belly fat and get six pack abs in a short period of time. It will blow your mind. I was able to lose the belly fat and get ripped in only 6 weeks.

You will also have access to a fully customizable online weight loss software system which uses body type, age, sex, weight and current fitness level to determine the most appropriate amount of food to eat and when. It also includes a training program specific to your body type. Good luck!

Fat will always start to build up around the middle and back side first. Fat comes from eating more then we burn up so anything that burns up energy will help reduce the fat. If someone has a exercise bike you can borrow they are great to use while watching TV and such. Cut down on the sugar intake and your metabolism might do the work for you.

you don't even have to train the abs to get a wash board stomach. I have trained many a bodybuilder that only trains the abs for 2-3 months out of the year.

great abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym. if you want to see your abs you need to lose body fat. crunches, leg lifts and sit-ups have absolutely no effect on fat loss.

Try lying on the floor head down and arms close by your sides. Lift both legs off the floor very very slowly. It hurts but great results if you can do it 3 times a week start with 10 then build them up. Don't lift your head keep it nailed to the floor!!!!!!

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

Get started today!
