No seriously think about it.

From what I have observed and read and understood by numerous answers you have given people:

Those people who have never heard about jesus christ and his salvation are under some sort of grandfather clause where they are accepted into heaven.

And if you are going to backtrack on that statement and disagree I would like for you to list your reason as to why you think that. Keep in mind that if someone has never heard the word of christ and grew up without knowing any better why it would be fair for god to send them to hell.

Now if this is the case and you agree on that....and most christians profess to be worried for our souls and all that jazz...why dont you all decide that you would be doing the world a GREATER favor if you DID NOT indeed spread the word of christ and just kept quiet about it??

My name is Jim Darwin. Im the self proclaimed mayor of this section of yahoo answers.

Thank you. You are most welcome here. I agree with most of your points, I think Christians are following something the Great Commission which directs them to go spread that gospel.

I for one am an atheist and when my soul burns in hell it will make a scent pleasing to the lord their God.

I intend to be first in line to burn.

Mainly I fight Creationism with my little battle of words.

I am not a Christian...actually not religious at all...but I found this question very interesting and wanted to take a stab at it.....

My guess is....they do it for choice. In other words....according to most Christian Theology that i'm familiar with.....the entire concept of heaven/hell and forgiveness...the entire concept of forgiveness and salvation...is based on free will and the capacity to make a choice. While it would be easier to just not contact them.....thus letting them go to heaven as innocents.....it would eliminate that concept of choice from their equation.

I am not sure about this....but I was once asking a a religiius friend of mine questions relating to what happens to non-believers and people who were never given the chance to know about Xtianity......he told me something to the effect of...during rapture...the dead will rise...see Jesus...see the Anti-Christ...and be given a choice. Whether this is part of scripture, I have NO idea. I believe in death, sex, taxes, and ear blistering music. Especially sex.

How this relates to predestination in Calvinist teachings, I have NO idea.

Due to the original sin of our first parents, NO ONE naturally born is suited for heaven.

Without being born again via water baptism, in the name of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, there's no telling where any particular soul might end up.

That's why Christians are called to spread the good news about Jesus Christ, and to baptize into his church.

Your logic is impeccable.

However, you should address your question to "Fundamentalist Christians." Not all Christians believe that non-Christians go to hell unless they fall under the grandfather clause. For example, check out what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says about salvation for non-Christians. It's not at all what you describe.

Basically, the Catholic Church teaches that God is our loving Father. He loves all his kids the same. Jesus came to teach us about love and forgiveness, about how to live our lives, how to treat one another, how to forgive one another - not seven times but seventy times seven times.

As for non-Christians, the Catholic Church does not teach that, if they ever have heard of Jesus and didn't convert, they go to hell. Many Christian churches do teach that, and it doesn't make sense to me either. The Catholic Church recognizes the truths in non-Christian faiths, many of which are consistent with Jesus' teachings. If you grow up in a non-Christian faith and you love and strive for God and holiness, and you treat your neighbor with compassion and kindness and honesty and forgiveness, God loves and honors your faithfulness and welcomes you with open arms into heaven. You are a child of God, and God loves all his kids the same. Even if once in your life, a missionary wandered into your village and stood on the streetcorner with a Bible and you didn't pay much attention.

why hell?
God is not standing there saying yes there goes another one, he is loves us sooo much. We are something that he MADE!!!

We are like... okay a plant. if a plant gets cut off from the root it dies. We as people are cut off from God through sin. All of us are. The only way to get back to the root it to be glued with special glue that connects us back. That glue is Jesus Christ.

God says the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
You will die like the plant if you do not take the gift

The COMMAND to preach the WORD was given to MAN. The Creator could use any means or source, and Jesus said he could have the rocks to cry out. God said that his word would not return to him void but would accomplish that which he please.
