Yes, they can. their bodies are meant to be lightweigt so they can take off flying faster and easier. So, they poop all the time. they do poop in the air if they have to. (I have Parakeets and its true for them too, Although, I did notice that they didnt poop in their nest when they were booding their eggs and chicks. they go out of their nest to poop.

Flying... I got hit by seagull pooh whilst on the school run one day. My kids found it hysterically funny. Needless to say I was less than amused!

Both. Katie, our baby Greenwing is the queen of the flying poop. She's not potty trained like our Military, Rio yet, and she's a definite flapper. If I get too far from her or if she thinks I'm talking to another bird, she'll fly to me (she's clipped, but she still manages to glide to me if I'm not too far) and she ALWAYS poops when she's doing it.

I have hand reared quarrions and while they prefer to perch or sit when pooing they have been known to drop one whilst flying

ive got a pet canary named lemon & he's very tamed and whenever i let him fly he always leaves a little present for me to clean up.

They can do it while flying. Trust me I had a parakeet and he did it to me all the time.
