And don't be fooled by people saying it doesnt exist, they just can't be arsed to deal with it, its happened before (ice age hello?) but this time due to human interferance it will be irriversable. Do you really think we're putting all this crap in the atmosphere and getting away with it?

Because despite of the propaganda Al Gore is saying there is no clear consensus of global warming. The politically correct are masters in manipulating the media. The media takes these sensationalist stories, reports them and do not check for accuracies. Read some more serious publications and they report that there is no clear consensus as the causes of global warming, and the effects on the earth. Al Gore's prediction; only 5% of scientists support the extreme conclusions. Most of them say it is a possibility but doubt it. Do you know at NASA has studied the temperatures on Mars. Do you know what they found? Global warming. No human activity there. Many solar scientists have found a change in the solar activity of the sun. They say the earth will warm until 2020 and then the earth will cool again.

The case in this country is that we are being held up by two of the richest oil family's (W AND THE BRAIN!) so why F-UP a good thing! They are making money hand over fist and don't see any need to change! Limburger and all his ditto-heads love to claim there is no such thing as global-warming but have a very hard time finding any real geologist or climatologist that will agree with them! The only people that don't seem to think this is real are the same ones that are getting richer from the our use of fossil fuel! If you want the whole truth just turn on FARCE NEWS and get the real scoop! Farce News..we report..you decide..! Of course what they fail to say is that they decide what to report! Go figure!

The problems are myriad in this subject on one hand I feel as you do that more could be done by the government but I dont want any more interference by them than they can do now. In fact, I would like less interference by the government. There fore they cant compel one to reduce, reuse or recycle. Only those with an eye to the future will cramp thier own lifestyle to lessen global warming. Oh we all talk the good talk but when it comes down to it we all over use. The key is to get kids involved so as they grow up they use recycled products and get used to it so by the time they are adults its second nature.

By the way I remember the global cooling incident also. I always reserve some judgement in these things but have seen actual changes in the weather in my lifetime. Long term changes. So I do worry some about what kind of earth we are giving our kids and grands.

The govenment is doing something.Just not enough. You , however could start a great grassroots movement.IF all of yu and your friends buy the lightbulbs that look like they are curly-q-ed at the ends , you would begin to see that your bills will go down in electricity.Al Gore's movie is a good one if you have not seen it. Global warming is caused by people, not just people in the Government. The Government does nothing that would lose their revenue. In other words you live in a capitalist society-so, start recylcing, buy a hybrid car, carpool, don't use hot water when you use the washing machine and start from there.Complaining about the government isn't going to help. You do some good where you can. After all, it starts with you and me.

The US government is very much taking a "it's not real" stance and has lately been actively preventing scientists from showing their true results(1).

One of the main reasons is that most of the government's funding comes from companies and groups that would be hurt or damaged by stricter global warming prevention policies. One of the major flaws with current politics is the emphasis on funding and investors, with the parties willing to bend over backwards to please their corporate sponsors because they'll need money to run their campaigns in future elections. The oil industries and such have a strong influence over the present administration, and don't want to see their profits drop for the environment, so they pass it off as a non-issue.

It's about the money.

Millions of tons of crap DAILY into the atmosphere is nothing to sneeze at. Pun intended.

We are screwing ourselves over for a buck.
Shooting ourselves in the herd.
Stepping on our own ducks.
Cutting off our nose to spite our finch.
Kicking ourselves in the aardvark.

For the almighty dollar we're ruining it for everybody and everything, and people who can't accept it are three fries short of a Happy Meal.
Have a nice day.

It is said that if the government were in charge of the Sahara Desert in 5 years there would be no sand. Maybe it would work for Global Warming. Since there is no global warming, how could it hurt?

You seem very emotional and are stating things as absolutes -- "government...isn't doing ANYTHING" and "I am...other's AREN'T", "NO rules and laws...".

Do you really think whiny ranting such as this motivates people to get them involved to help?

The "government" (i.e., YOU and the rest of the people of this country) needs to present issues -- especially ones as significant as you suggest this one is -- using factual, intelligent and persuasive language so that people will take notice, take interest, and then ultimately respond with action.

Unfortunately, your question seems to be lacking in these three areas but if you were just wanting to vent and rant you have succeeded.

It is true that all this is an interplanetary com plot to make our the earth warmer, Klingons will invade earth in a few years and they prefer warmer planets, and all you pathetic earthlings are being used by them to accomplish that by brainwashing you with the TVs to make you believe that you really need a big SUV and to travel in those ridiculously slow planes that pollute as much as 5000 SUVs when taking off.
Be prepared!
