i am a beginning baker and i would really like to know what the professionals use to airbrush on their cakes. is it a special airbrush gun?

You can use a regular, low end, airbrush as long as it has never been used for anything else. You need to make sure that you only use edible food coloring in it. Also, check out Kopykake. They are the makers of the Kroma Jet cake decorating system. Good system, whether you are starting out, or not. If you are just starting, though, I would suggest that you get a regular low end one to play with in case you find that this is not your thing.
