I too am bipolar. You need to have your doctor fill out a form for the school so that your teachers are aware of your condition and how the symptoms manifest in your daily life. You should be able to get a medical disablility form from your guidance councillor. As for your friends, you explain it the way it is. The imbalance of neoepinephrine and saratonin in your brain make you unable to control your bahaviour. They will either understand or they won't. You can explain the illness and it's symptoms and what causes it, but they may never really understand.Do not be ashamed of this illness. It is not your fault that you are sick. This is like any other illness. There are specific symptoms and treatments. It is a recognized illness and even if your friends don't understand, they will accept it, if they are true friends.
Maybe if you have a couple really close friends, you can set up a support system for when you get angry. Maybe they can help you cope a little better so you don't get so angry.
True friends who are determined to be supportive can be a godsend. I know, I've been lucky enough to have them during troubled times.
Good luck

You could tell some close friends or some other friends the word will get out. But so people don't think it's just gossip, tell people that you want people to understand and that it's not a secreat but you just don't know how to tell people that you're bipolar, and that's why you get mad! Good luck! :)

If you tell people why, they'll be in your business and that may not be a good thing, esp. at your age. (unless it is a dear and trusted friend, of course). Your teachers would probably be more understanding, but then they also have cause to "label" you. I would say either start the meds to control it, get some therapy to help with stabilizing your mood, or both. Good luck.

Brittany, Donm't use you affliction to excuse your temper, You can control your outburst. If things are getting worse consult with your doctoe and get on the medication. Once you are stable you can offer apologies for your previous infractions. You can even say that you have been sick but now you have gotr it under control.

If you fail to do anything about your temper and continue to make these outbursts without real explanation or an atempt to control it you will lose many friends
