I just caught the common cold from my lab partner, and I don't want to spread it to my precious dog.

I once read that most viruses are species specific. That means that you can't catch a cold from a dog and vice versa.

There are exceptions such as rabies, etc.

umm are you serious! Are you like amish?

The common cold is a human virus.

The common cold and influenza virus found in humans cannot be transmitted to a dog, and vice versa. Dogs do get colds and ailments similar to influenza; those sicknesses can’t be transmitted to humans.

Don't worry! We don't share the same viruses as our pets.
