Relax, be yourself and see what happens. Basically, let things happen naturally . This will take care of both of your concerns i.e. how to act and "is it a date?".

If you asked him out or if he was to have asked you out...it's pretty much a date...but now a days, people just call it hanging out getting to know you better~ I know you must feel nervous going to a movie with a boy for the first time...but think of it as going with a friend. Get some popcorn to share and just relax* Watch a Funny movie , will make you both laugh and have a good time*~ Maybe the next movie can be a scary one if you like scary movies. He's probably just as nervous as you are so just try and relax and you go girl......asking him out*~ :) Keep on SMilin*

To find the answer you must ask the question, to him. I know it's hard, I've been there myself but it will drive you crazy (and trust me on this one) if you go to the movies with him and don't ask because the whole time you are with him you will wonder 'am I on a date or not?' Because sometimes you really can't tell just because they say yes to go with you. I've also made the mistake the other way around, being asked out by a friend and having them consider it a date. So to answer your question you just need to be honest and come out and ask him what he thinks this is, just hanging out as friends or a date? It's such a simple answer but quite a difficult task.

And you won't regret asking because whether he says you are just friends hanging out or that it is a date you will have an answer. And that is better than driving yourself crazy wondering what it is that you are doing with him.

Either way, I hope you have a great time with him!

It's a movie. You asked a friend to go see it with you. Just be yourself. There is no difference between friends and "going to a movie with a boy", except that you think he's cute. If he's going with you, then he must like you too. All boyfriends and girlfriends start off by just hanging out. Then, if they like each other more, they might start dating. Don't rush this. For now, just be happy that you are going to hang out with your cute friend.

You'll know when you get to the movies if it's a date or not...if he pays it's a date if he don't it's not...just be cool...don't act like he's the fines thing in the world and you just can't help yourself...(even if he is, and you can't (LOL))...but just have fun...but you'll know if it's a date or note...BYE!

Oh how I HATE the technicalities of 'hanging out vs. dating'
It's a date, I don't care how you word it.
A guy asks a girl out, it's date.

Same goes for girls that ask guys out.

Maybe if it's in a group setting or something it could be different.

If you are unsure....
ASK!

If he tries to kiss you or you try to kiss him, its a date. But if he doesn't or you don't, you just hanging out. Be yourself because thats what is important at the end. If you lie, it'll bite ur butt at the end.

Since you asked him it's probably just hanging out.
