Always, during the winter months, my hands get really chapped, cracked skin, they even bleed at times. I put lotion on them, and these dry skin lotions, but the chap always comes back. I'm don't do drugs, or smoke, so are there any solutions that anybody knows of to keep skin soft and mosturized, without having to keep reappliying lotion?

I wash my hands about 100 times per day (I'm in a hospital) and keep lotion in my pocket and reapply every time I wash. I also put Vaseline on my hands every night and sleep in gloves.

When I was riding horses and using a glycerin block to clean tack, I noticed my hands got very soft. Glycerin is a natural skin softener.

First, drink alot of water.
Second, get a parifin unit. (Available at Sally's, Ulta) Turn it on and let the parafin melt, dip ur hands in then cover in the cotton gloves in the kit. Wait till it dries (5 min) and peel it off. Coat ur hands with a good, non petroleum based lotion. Burts Bee's is a great lotion to try.

You could use Vaseline, it will stay on longer then any lotion, and even more so if you put in on generously at night and then put some cotton gloves on for the night. There is one hand cream that is exceptionally good, it is the Nutrogena hand cream found in most OTC Pharmacies such as CVS etc. if you want to try it for daytime use . Use gloves to protect your hands anytime you are outdoors especially in cold weather

Sometimes when my hands get extremely dry I put some of the Blistex liquid chapstick on it. Its also good for sore/dry noses if you have a cold. I also have been pleased with Avon's product called Silicon Glove - its a very moisturizing lotion.

Try a lotion with 24 hour protection and with healing properties to heal the bleading or whatever like Gold Bond Ultimate.

Use Aveeno lotion in the morning and at night. Before you go to bed, put socks on your arms and legs. It makes you're skin all soft.

use petroleum jelly or any moisturizing lotions like vaseline or lander every after bath in the morning and evening. i suggest you put on a pair of cotton gloves after applying cream or lotion to prevent dehydration. avoid using detergent soaps at this time, always wear rubber gloves when doing the laundry or washing dishes. in the evening, after a warm bath or shower, apply cream or lotion immediately on your hands and then wear cotton gloves right away to lock in the moisture on your hands. drink plenty of water and keep yourself warm all the time.

to begin with I use Dove soap.If my hands get to that point of bleeding and cracking I do 1 of 2 things1: vaseline with a pair of cotton gloves over night really slather it on, 2: There is a dry skin treatment called "crack cream" most upscale drug stores carry it. It works wonders try it!

You could try Neutrogena "Norwegian Fisherman" formula hand cream. It is very good as it is much more waxy than most and doesn't rub off easily.

You can get special gloves which you wear at night. These allow you to put very strong cream on overnight without destroying all your bedclothes.
