You said ideal...so then yeah, I ideally I would want my partner to be a virgin? Why? Not because I am some high moralist...but for a more grounded non-religious reason..

There is a good reason to save yourself for marriage and ideally marry a virgin: If both or one of you have had sex before then sometimes it is human nature to compare and contrast...and a relationship should not be based on sex, it should be based to trust and friendship. If one or both partners have had sex before and they don't find themselves having as much pleasure with their latest partner, often times this becomes a distraction and can lead to unhealthy relationships. This doesn't mean they are a bad person, it is just human nature. If neither person has had sex, then they can't really compare what sex they are having after marriage and they can honestly say it is "the best they ever had" because...well it is. That way they can focus on more important things like trusting one another, communication, etc. Too many times I've seen relationships that ended because one or both people didn't feel sexually satisfied...which is a silly reason to break up. Sexual emotions and urges die down and numb after time, so why should the person who you spend the rest of your life with be based on a decision of physical urge? Instead, look at the person's character and if they would make a good life companion instead.

Having said all this, that doesn't mean I would completely rule out a non-virgin. People do things when they are young and they mature and grow up. If I found someone who was mature and beyond sexual urges as their primary motivator, then sure, they wouldn't have to be a virgin. Ideally though? Of course.

No. In fact- HELL, NO.
I'm no virgin, I have no right to ask that of my gf.

Mind you, a tattoo of "Welcome USS Saratoga" on the inner thigh would be a turn off.
