I think so, but I'm not for sure

A study of the Holy Scriptures reveals that Hell, Hades (Greek), and She'ol (Hebrew) are one in the same and are nothing more than the common grave of mankind. The lake of fire and Gehenna refer to everlasting destruction, a death from which there is no resurrection. Those who teach hell is a place of eternal torment are making God look wicked because they do not know God, and if they don't know God, how can they claim to love him? Hell is to be done away with.

Hell

Definition: The word ''hell'' is found in many Bibles translations.
In the same verses other translations read ''the grave'' the world of the dead, ''and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered ''hell''; they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she'ohl' and its Greek equivalent hai'des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind; also the Greek ge'en-na, which is used as a symbol of eternal destruction. However, both in Christendom and in many non-Christian religions it is taught that hell is a place inhabited by demons and where the wicked , after death, are punished (and some believe that this is with torment.)

Does the Bible indicate whether the dead experience pain?
Eccl.9:5, 10: ''The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all... All that your hands find to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in sheol, the place to which you are going.'' (If they are conscious of nothing, they obviously feel no pain.)

What does the Bible say the penalty for sin is?
Rom. 6:23: ''The wages sin pays is death.''

After one's death is he still subject to further punishment for his sins?
Rom. 6:7: ''He who has died has been acquitted from his sin.''

Is eternal torment of the wicked compatible with God's personality?
Jer. 7:31: ''They [apostate Judeans] have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, in order to burn their sons and daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart.'' (If it never came into God's heart, surely he does not have and use such a thing on a larger scale.)

Illustration: What would you think of a parent who held his child's hand over a fire to punish the child for wrongdoing? ''God is love'' (1 John 4:8) Would he do what no right-minded human parent would do ? Certainly not!

The degree of punishment in hell will be commensurate with one's sin against the light which one has received.
One good passage that indicated degrees of punishment is Luke 12:47-48: "That servant who know his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be BEATEN WITH MANY BLOWS. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be BEATEN WITH FEW BLOWS. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked". Other verses on this issue include MAT 10:15; 16:27; Rev. 20:12,13; 22:12.
Jesus affirmed that the wicked "will go away to ETERNAL punishment, but the righteous to ETERNAL life" (Mat 25:460

Only in your own mind. Other people (like abusive significant others or some governments) can help you get there too. Luckily this kind of hell can be escaped with therapy and/ or a lot of personal struggle. I know; I've been there.
Other than that, no, although some people (like abusive significant others and some governments) make me wish one did exist.

I understand that many people live in hell currently (Afghanistan, Somalia, their own depression, etc) and that it is a very real thing. However, I do not believe that after less than 100 years on this planet, anyone would die and spend an eternity being tortured. Makes no sense. Makes less sense if you believe in a loving god.

There is absolutely no evidence that supports the existence of a biblical hell.

Hell is in the mind of the beholder

No. Think about it. Could you be happy in heaven if you knew anyone were in hell? I couldn't. So am I more compassionate than God? If there's heaven, there's no hell.

Yes, there is unfortunately that place for people that know of God and do not follow his words. It is not for people that obey God's words, people that do not know of God, and babies for they don't know what sin is .
