Would you call a dog that weighed around 25 lbs small? Or maybe smallish medium?

Thanks.

25 lbs is the upper limit of small, but to me a small dog is anything that can (comfortably) sit in your lap.

I would call anything under 35 lbs small. I'd call something up to the size of a lab a medium sized dog, larger than a lab a large dog.

Of course, I have a 140lb Giant Schnauzer. I'd guess it's all relative

I agree with some other posters that 25 is borderline small-medium. Usually you'll see cutoffs of 1-20 pounds as small, 21-45 pounds as medium, and 46+ as large.

all toy dogs(like pomeranians) & some of the terriors(like yorkies) are considered small dogs. if they weigh 25 lbs, then they're probably between a small & medium dog, but it really just depends on what breed of dog it is. if you can get a hold of an encyclopedia, you can look it up in there or just go on the internet, you can probably find information there.

There are five sizes; toy, small, medium, large and my favorite giant.
Take this with a grain of salt, it is just my personal measurements. I also look at the dog's ideal weight and actual height and girth.
Toy under 10lb
Small under 35lb
Medium under 75lbs
Large under 75- 110lbs
Giant over 110lb

*edit* In consideration of breed and weight, I would say you have a small dog.

Depends... anything other than the same size as my Lab X and Staffs X are small according to them! If you are trying to convince your landlord however, of course yours is a small dog!

Food wise I would say that the dog you refer to is medium. I reserve the term small for Poodles, Jack Russells, Yorkshire Terriers and the like!

A small dog would be a dog 2-4 feet in width
and for hight 4-12 inches high the listed breeds are not small dogs:Great Dane,German Shepard,German Shorthair, much more.
25 lbs is a very small dog depending on its abount of fat.

sure thats smallish medium. unless its brown, brown tends to add 5lbs just like the camera does.

i think its relatively important to consider getting a bigger dog maybe like a pitbull. something that can kick a butt when needed.
better too big than too small, you can always hack some off.
