The militant islamists blame the west for unrest - who did they blame before that? Why are they killing those who believe in Islam if total Islamic control is what they want?

Total islamic control is NOT what they want. Remember, these were the CRIMINALS who robbed caravans, kidnapped and murdered hundreds of people CAUSING the Crusades. Just like most other criminals, anarchy is their preferred system.
Look at the extremists CRIMINALS who are MURDERING people in the Middle East region on a daily basis. They want the ability to murder innocent people with impunity. Palestinians murder Israelis then cry when IDF responds.
These terrorists are criminals. They need to be treated like it. If shots are fired from a house, church or masque on any military forces, leave a crater where that building used to be. If innocents are killed, that was simply the result of the CRIMINAL'S choices. The "masses" would soon learn that harboring these CRIMINALS and allowing them to launch attacks from neighborhoods or places of worship is a bad choice.

Please understand the Militants are CRIMINALS they are killing Innocent people, Non-Muslim and Muslim alike. I seen a documentary where a women thought her husband was a martyr for blowing up another Muslim with a camera bomb.

Belief in God makes people do crazy things in the name of their "Lord". There is no reason when you have "faith". Faith allows you to blame anyone you want to, no matter how unreasonable it is and no matter how little proof a person has for their convictions. Faith is not a reasonable thing...there is no reason...religious people just believe they should fight evil and evil is around every rock. Religious people seem to have that "Kill them all and let God sort them out" mentality. .. and everyone is evil...kill everyone. Its simply the insanity of religion and its not just Moslems who think like this either!!!!

They blamed the countries that were responsible, usually. These were the empire building countries of Europe for a few centuries. Before that it was the Empire-Building-Disguised-As Crusades countries of europe.
