It seems obvious that we are escalating the war and specifically against Iran. We are slowly going toward confrontation with Iran. It is by no doubt that Iran is involved in Iraq -but should we confront them militarily and go out with a bang... how would that help our National Security at home and/or abroad?

Not a good idea. It has the effect of only increasing the feeling of hostilities further. It only takes a tiny miscalculation on either side to spark a full blown war.

But I've got a sense of dark and sinister foreboding about this. I can still clearly remember that this is the same situation during the months that preceded the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003. At that time, vicious rhetorics and threats were also exchanged between Bush and Saddam.

Diplomatic dialogue is the only solution to allay these tensions and fear, which is clear that Bush is not going to do. But the American Congress and the rest of the world could already see an armed conflict between the U.S. and Iran looming in the horizon. Only Bush can avoid such a catastrophic event from happening, by dropping his confrontational stance towards Iran. As Bush himself categorically stated, he alone "makes the decisions". So, it is on his hands lay the destiny of war or peace.

Nothing is being 'escalated.'

These rumors about an 'imminent' war with Iran always seem to turn up every January. I would have thought that people would have learned to recognize rumor and media hype by now.

Bush is still the Commander and Chief and he says that there's been no talk in his cabinet to attack Iran.

Google it. I need no sources.
