A cup of decaf coffee or tea does count toward your daily intake of water. You shoould consume the majority of your water as plain water. This is the best way to have it aid in your health and well-being. Have a good day.

Close enough for government work. If you're talking about the recommendations to drink lots of water for good health, your decaf will do fine. There is still some residual caffeine, which acts as a diuretic, and you'll lose a tiny fraction of it, and the solids take up a tiny fraction of the volume, but that's being really nitpicky.

It depends upon who you're talking about...certain health conditions are made worse by the caffeine in coffee (like those with heart rhythm irregularities) & so on...but A normal healthy adult can drink coffee every day with no ill effects (with or without caffeine). In fact, coffee has many antioxidants in it which are beneficial to health. It's a myth that it's unhealthy. It's a natural substance. Anything taken to an extreme can become unhealthy (consuming too much water can cause water intoxication leading to death). In fact, the caffeine can contribute to alertness, improve pain, decrease headache, boost cognitive function & increase memory retention. For some ppl there are gastrointestinal side effects. In sensitive individuals it can cause heartburn, gas, diarrhea. For some, it acts as a diuretic & they have to urinate. It can contribute to bad breath. More factors contribute to staining teeth than coffee (such as medications & smoking). Different coffee brands have differing amts of caffeine. Brands used at home through drip coffee makers have 30-50mg. Decaf coffee has small amts of caffeine. Specialty coffee shops such as Starbucks or Caribou have the most caffeine with 150-180mg. Energy drinks contain more caffeine, sugars & additives than the average cup of coffee (even the 'healthy' energy drinks).

No, depending on the tea it could have herbal or health properties, but water is still better.
Coffee is a lot worse though.

If you are counting toward 8 8-ounce glasses of water, then yes it does. As do caffeinated beverages.
