I really didn't want to waste my five points with this question but I've seen many questions about "iguana" (example: "if my iguana is naked on a tree, is it teasing me?"). In spanish this word has a meaning, but I dont think when people use it in english they mean the same. Iguana in spanish is an animal. What is it in english?

Iguana is one of the many words that english has "borrowed" from Spanish (along with rodeo, patio, armadillo...). It has the exact same meaning in english as in spanish. The person whose questions you are reading is just being silly!

Iguana is a type of lizard. Several species of this genus are common as pets, especially the Green Iguana in the United States and Canada, which can easily grow to six feet long, even in captivity.

Reptiles ARE animals. So are birds, insects, mammals, anything in the animal kingdom (it's a big group.)

I've only heard it's a lizard. I lived in Mexico for a while, and the only references I heard to it were, "Hey, let's take our picture with that iguana!" and my host mother telling me about the time their dog tried to kill an iguana, but its skin was too thick, and the dog just shook it back and forth, clamped in her jaws until she finally gave up.

It could be slang...but I don't know.
