Yes you can book through any expedia site, you don't have to live in the country that the site is in. The prices do vary a little. I find that expedia.com.au is usually slightly cheaper than expedia.com. As well as the exchange rate difference remember that you bank may charge you a foreign exchange fee as well but if the Italian site is 1/3 cheaper this won't matter.

You will probably have problems trying to actually pay for the flight if booked through the Italian site unless you have a bank account registered in Italy. Most operators and airlines wont allow you to book on a site if you cant pay with a local card.

I would ring Expedia first and ask them as to why there is such a big price difference.

hi there I work for an airline, you can purchase a ticket anywhere, however if you book say paris london newyork london paris you must travel all sectors otherwise you will be commiting an offence which is called cross boarder ticket. You can be fined by the airline and made to purchase a new ticket in worse case scenario u can be prosecuted as it can be an offence.
Be very careful I know buying abroad can be cheaper but break the conditions of carriage or the rules on cross boarder tickets then it will be more costly for you. I would rather buy from uk web site to be on safe side.

I started selling cross border ticketing 25 years ago. The IATA airlines went crazy and came to my office making threats. This did not stop me and none of my passengers where stopped from flying nor charged for "cross border ticketing"

We live in a global world where market conditions decide pricing. Airlines will always have a strategy for a particular market and most likely different prices based on that markets particular requirements.

This is the game that all airlines play – use it to your advantage.

Yes, most of the web based ticket brokres are reliable. Howvever you need to protect your finalncial information before giving out - any time regardless what you're buying from whom. For price, no, sometime specialized travel agents offer good deal for alot cheaper than online price.

I think if you are allowed to book it might not be illegal for you and it is going to be EXPEDIA's problem. Anyway, I would be careful using any of EXPEDIA's branches around the world because if any problem occurs you may have troubles and EXPEDIA wil not help you. If their policy is the same as EXPEDIA.com you can loose not only your ticket but a lot of money trying to fix the problem.
Remember, once they charge your credit card, you are on your own.

I don't know if it is the same but I always book my Eurostar tickets through the French Railway (SNCF) website. Never a problem, they arrive through the post.
