The 2nd link is 20 questions you should ask the recruiter.

Browse that site and after you meet with the recruiter DOUBLE and TRIPLE check everything he tells you. You can ask on the military.com message boards.

Ask the recruiter questions about what jobs you qualify for, bonuses, duty stations, ans the different training you'll be able to get, and anything else you want to know. Then find someone who is, or has been in the Army, and ask him, or her, a ton of questions too. I've learned more from people who are serving, or have served than I have from my recruiter.

you should write down anything that comes to mind.

An Army Recruiter will have a binder that has standard information on it to inlclude: the MGIB, Army College Fund, Loan Repayment Program, pay charts, bonuses...

He/she should make you take the EST before even talking to you about any options. This is the ASVAB pretest. It will tell him/her whether you will pass the real deal and roughly what your score will be.

They will also be able to talk about different programs with you based off your qualifications (high school diploma, college, GED, whatever).

They can't just tell you everything about any MOS, they know basic info...

peruse www.goarmy.com before talking to them, and compile some good questions.

Anything you think is important - make them work for their money. In the end though, don't believe anything that's not in writing.

Go for the job/career field that interests you most, that you're qualified for, and/or has the longest training.

Don't take "no" for an answer right off - dealing with recruiters is much like dealing with used car salesmen.

Before you sign anything, have someone with a good head for legal-speak take a look at your enlistment contract. Make sure you understand what you're signing up for.

Can I choose my MOS, can I pick my training locations, can i choose my duty locations, how long can i take for home town recruiting, what kind of bonus can i get, can you help my mom or family find reasonable fairs for flights and hotels close to base for my graduation, what can i do with my car and personal possesions during training, ask them specific questions about the MOS you want, they may have information on it for you. good luck

What jobs are available? Thats a good one. Remember, you are signing up to serve, NOT be served. If you are not enlisting to serve, dont do it. Dont get into the military for the money, dont go for the time off, dont go so you can look good in a uniform, and most definately dont go because your friends and family want you to. Its a big decision, but you must understand that you are enlisting to do your part in protecting this country.

I applaud you for taking the steps and will thank you in advance for keeping us free. And you have my pledge that if you are called to action, that this American (and millions of my countrymen) will welcome you back and protect you from the stuck-in-the-sixties hippies who have no clue what it is that you were doing.
