We are fostering four kitttens. They are 2 months old and love to explore. The smallest one somehow wandered upstairs. When I went up to get her she ran from me and jumped right off the ledge, landed face first on the next floor down, then tumbled down the rest of the stairs! She seems to be ok though. I felt her body and her bones feel fine. She is walking and not meowing or anything. She is currently sleeping with her siblings. We are taking the kittens in for their shots on saturday and cant get to the vet before then. What should I do?

Kittens and puppies are very resilient little creatures. If she's not meowing and she didn't cry out in pain when you checked for broken bones and injuries, chances are she's just fine. Continue to watch her to make sure she's eating right, playing normally, and otherwise acting like a two-month old kitten....if you don't see anything alarming, no need to panic - just mention it to the vet on Saturday as an FYI. He might have more tests to run to be on the safe side, but if you haven't seen symptoms of any issues she's probably fine. If you DO, however, see her walking unsteadily (more so than normal) or she's not eating, or seems to be in pain, call the vet right away.

Keep a close eye on her, wake her from time to time as you would to check a human hadn't become comatose. Ring the RSPCA in UK or your countrys equivilent for more advice. However, don't stress too much, they are very resiliant creatures and if she is fine, alert (though of course kittens naturally sleep a lot, but if she wakes without difficulty I mean), if her eyes are clear and she displays no pain she should be fine.

And give yourself a pat on the back and a hug from my moggies for being so kind as to take them on and so responsible as to have them jabbed etc. You're a star!

Good luck Hun!

Oh yes and its a beggar having pets and no transport etc to get to the vets... you have my full sympathy and understanding on that one. For peace of mind keep the number of local vets and the RSPCA by the phone too!

If you have any worries your local sanctuary should be a good port of call... they are normally mre than willing to give as much help and advice as they can.

Welcome to kittens. She'll be fine: they can do that. You may discover that the young of many species, including our own, can bounce off anything.

So what you should do is laugh. Our nine-year-old tabby cat does approximatly the same stunt every night, typically when being chased by her twelve-year-old black cat. We figure that one morning we'll find them in pieces at the bottom of the stairs, but in the meantime they're happy cats. Don't worry.

Normally if the cat isn't limping or meowing a lot she should befine. Cats are used to big jumps and usally know how to handle them. The cat will probably use this as a learning experience.

She should be fine. But keep an eye on her. Tell the Vet on Sat. when you take the kittens in for their shots.

Do nothing unless she sleeps mor ethan the rest or doesn't eat/drink or walks with a limb. She will probably be sore but thats all. Cats are amazingly agile and its hard to hurt them - Don't panic.

Ow!

She's probably all right: Cats do things like that a lot. But watch her closely and keep her comfortable. And when you see the vet, tell him about your kitten's adventures so he can give her a check-up.

Good luck!

Watch her until then. Ours went between the bars/railing and landed downstairs and it sort of "shocked" her. Then I put large pieces of cardboard around the stairs to keep it from happening again, until she grew too big to fit between the bars, and learned better.

Cats will get into ANYTHING they can, including behind the washer/dryer etc... you may want to walk around on your hands and knees and see where they can get into, and "plug up" any spaces they can crawl.

Ours even fit underneath the couch and my hand barely fits there!

i think she will be fine, when my cat was the same age he fell off the top of my stairs and hit the floor straight down and he was perfectly fine.
