I have three Rottweilers, 2 F, 1 M. My first two rottys are tall & big, not fat but solid. My male is 7yrs old, 145 lbs & 30" H from toe to shoulder. My older F is 6yrs old, 125 lbs & 28" H from toe to shoulder. My young F is just 1 yr old, 73 lbs but also 28" H from toe to shoulder. She eats like a horse & we excersize her the same as the other two in hopes she'll develope body muscle mass as the other two have but she is VERY lean/thin. She doesn't have worms, that we see but I'm concerned that she will stay scrawny. Any thoughts or ideas?

She could put weight on like a boxer. They grow up for the first few years and then after about 2-3 years she'll grow out and broaden.

If she's healthy I wouldn't worry about it to much. She might just have a fast metabolism.

She's still a pup so it will take a while for her to fill out. Usually anywhere from 2-4 yrs. for Rotts. We have a Boxer/Rott mix and we did alot of research on Rotts before we decided to take him and I remember reading on several breeder websites that Rotts mature much later than other breeds, that includes growth. Have you taken her to the vet to make sure she doesn't have worms? I've learned that just because I can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there.

Different Rottweiler bloodlines produce rotties with different physical characteristics, although they're the same breed. It's all genetics. I have 5 pit bulls, and they all look physically different, yet they're all purebred w/ papers. It's all in the bloodlines.

Some dog breeds (Chesapeakes and Rottweilers among others) don't really "bulk up" until their 2nd or 3rd year - as long as she is healthy (no parasites, etc) and gets fed a high quality dog food she will start "bulking up" in the next year or so.

You've gotten alot of good answers and it does take some time for them to "bulk up" or "fill out" If you want to aid that process find a brand of food that offers a high performance variety. These have a high amount of good solid protein And keep exercising!! Also some dogs are built thin I had one that came to me scrawny and after the high performance food and alot of up hill exercise she developed lean muscles and never got "bulked up" but was still healthy and solid looking.

My 4 yr old Rott was the same way. He was very tall and "skinny" for a long time. Then he started to fill out at about 2 yrs I think. I am sure she will be fine. Just give her more time to mature.
