Q. Who would do ---? A. Those who's hoover has given up the ghost.

So far none of these answers are the right one - what does the ghost have to do with it? It came from a British fellow so I assume only Brits would know the answer! I don't want to ask him yet - I'd feel stupid - but I will if I have to! :)

A hoover is a vacuum cleaner! Hoover is a UK brand name, which has become the generic term for a vacuum cleaner there. Regarding Q. "Who would do ..." A. "Those whose hoover has given up the ghost" - I'm afraid to conjecture!

Hoover is a brand name for vacuum cleaners; used as a generic term for those little suckers and even as a verb in Britain: "You really must hoover those ghastly dusty Persian rugs, love!"

well there is a dam with Hoover in it's name, but I think you're referring to the Hoover vacuum. = )

I only know of J edgar hoover the famouse FBI agent who often dress in disguise and also Hoover as in the vaccum or hoover dam...??
