Am making a beef stew. Seemed a bit bland, so I looked for some hot sauce, grabbed the habanaro. Wrong! Suggestions to weaken?

try a bit of lime juice- it has a tendancy to weaken the spices-- another suggestion is to remove some of your broth and add some more "fresh" water and beef bullion. i like to add a few dashes of vinegar to my beef stew- it gives it a very unique flavor- it might even beat out your spicy stuff

it may sound a little weird, but try adding the slightest bit of sour cream to a spoonful of your stew. then sprinkle a little bit of mozerella cheese over it, it tastes great even if you don't add the cheese. if you like it, add it to the rest of your stew.

the sour cream is a very basic ingrediant like yogurt, so it makes the spiciness of your food a bit cooler.

my mom always makes soup spicy because she loves spicy food, and i find that with most soups and stews, you can add just a little sour cream, and it makes the food a lot less spicy.

hope this works for you too!

I would add a can of tomatoes and a teaspoon of sugar and a little more broth or water.

Add potatoes to the mix. They will help tone down the spice.

Water, sugar and salt all help. Indian people put salt on their food when it gets too spicy.

try some water, it may thin it out a bit but won't be too hot
