I'm 22 and a college student; I'm taking Karate this semester and after class I felt pretty sweaty, etc, so I deicded to go to the locker room for a shower. I've never showered at this college in the locker room, or even in high school, etc, for that matter. But today I had to make an exception.
The "shower" was a big area in the middle of a huge room with lockers, etc, and there is like four walls wait high on either side with four urinals on the four corners.
There is no privacy from the guys using the lockers unless you stand behind one of the little walls. In the shower area there's a bunch of drains and polls with a few shower rods on each one. So there is REALLY, 100% NO privacy between everyone in the showers together. I imagine it can be pretty awkward.
Guys AND girls: would you be embarassed/shy to shower with other same sex people, in close quarters, them seeing *all* of you? Even people who are passing through can see you fully naked at a glance.

Anyway, luckily, I was the only one in the shower (and locker room) at the time, so it was OK. But this old guy did walk in and was using the urinal...but surprisingly I didn't mind really. It's not like we star at each other lol.
But I'll be using these showers until May--end of the semester. I'm sure more times than not I'll be showering with many guys. What if I become embarassed? How can I get over it?

NO. I have had to shower since frosh year of high school, and sometimes the guys would come in the girls locker room. During gymnastics season, b/c my school is poor we share the "sport" locker rooms with the guys. Don't worry about it. I am sure all the guys aren't gonna be looking at you.

Why is it embarassing? Unlike girls, guys normally do not "check out" other guy's bodies unless they are gay.
Unlike most girls, most guys simply ignore each other in the shower (that's why girl's locker rooms have individual showers, but guy locker rooms do not).
How can you be 22 and never taken a shower in a public place? Didn't you have gym in Jr. high or High School?

you're 22 and STILL worried? Has no one ever seen you naked? People don't care- 1/2 of the population looks the same as you underneath their clothes, and that's the 1/2 who would potentially see you. As a college student of 23, I haven't cared about that in 10 years. Get over yourself.

It seems amazing that you haven't run into this situation prior to being 22. At my high school, we all had to shower after gym in a "gang shower." It was a little strange at first, but we all got used to it after a few weeks.

I was in the military and had to shower with over 80 guys, it was a little embarrasing at first, but we all got used to it. Its good clean fun and no one cares, some people might be curious and might "look" but as long as no one touches, its all good.

I think you should bring a swim suit or somthing to wear over your privates. I understand how you feel. Dont feel embarassed everyone is different and "hot" in there own special way.

You've all got your purpose in there & that purpose is to shower/piss/whatever....not to GAPE at all the naked bodies.
