I don't mean to sound like a tool. But... Less calories - more walking. It's simple. No money spent-no hype. Go for a long hard walk with her, she will love you for that...

She will have to use a combination of both exercise and diet. A health club membership would be better than purchasing a single machine. Actually if both of you were to get a membership and go together at least 3 days a week, that would be paramount. If you still insist on an at home machine, I would suggest an Elliptical Crosstrainer. You can get the Nautilus brand at CostCo for under $900.00. Workout on it a least 3 days a week, 30 minutes at a time. At the same time, have her join Weightwatchers to learn more about food, calories, fat content, etc. Excercising together along with a good diet and encourgement from you will all help her to succeed and build your relationship along the way. GO for the GOLD!

You may want to just get an gym membership. You can sometimes get pretty good deals - don't let the sales people push you around. Most gyms have lots of diferent machines, and great excercise classes. That way she can pick and choose fram a large variety so she wont get bored. but if you really want to get a machine you can go to a retailer that specifically sells home gym equipment. There she can try different machines and see which one she really likes. I hope this helps!

There is no special machine or way to target specific areas of the body for fat loss, despite what magazines and friends tell you. One of the best machines you can buy is an eliptical machine. On average you will burn more calories per minute (avg=12 cal/min) than other machines. Treadmill = 9 cal/min, bike = 7cal/min. This is from my own experience. (I work out 6 days per week on average). Also eliptical is less harmful to knees as it is not high impact. In order to maximize fat loss though she must increase muscle mass. This does mean using light weights. Muscle burns calories than fat does, and it looks nice too :) Make sure she knows that as she is female, her risk or building massive muscles is not that of a man's due to natural testosterone levels. This is a big worry for some women. You might be able to find a good used one on Craigslist, e-Bay, or in the local paper. Good luck!

first of all, nothing beats a well-balanced diet, adequate sleep, drinking water, watching less tv and maintaining an active lifestyle. that being said, there are tons of machines out there, and i don't know how old and how committed your girl is, but those DDR video games (dance dance revolution) is a great game to get the body moving - just a totally different suggestion. (i don't know if your girl is your daughter or a girlfriend...)

or just go for a 30-minute stroll after a meal together. my feeling about exercise machine is that no matter how great it is, it's not gonna get used once she loses interest, so lifestyle change is crucial for long-term success at being fit.

Stop feeding her junk food. Take care of her diet and her body will take care of itself. Kids shouldn't be excersing on machines, they should be out playing sports and doing other kiddie stuff with their friends. By girl you do mean your daughter and not your other half, don't you????
