The reason is because God is speaking to you, do not be afraid to go with it, He speaks to your spirit that is in you usually always brings tears to your eyes, mine too, the compassion feeling is the peace of His love that you are feeling. Many do not understand this but I promise you this it is the best thing that you could ever do, go with God..He is speaking to you. I am happy for you :)

No it is not strange at all. That sense of power and compassion you felt, was and is not from a religion or even a book. The Bible is God's word, and He was speaking through them to you. God puts those emotions in your heart, because everyone is created with a hole in their heart that can only be filled with Him. That power and compassion is a person- the Lord Jesus Christ- drawing you to Him. Do not deny and miss the true meaning of those tears. You do not have to be religious to know Jesus.

God is trying to reach you through His Word. The Bible talks about this in many places. Don't turn away from it! Keep readin man! And find a Christian that you can discuss this with. By accepting Jesus as your Lord, you will find more power and compassion than you would have dreamed possible.

PLEASE don't listen to all these atheists on here. Do you see how hateful and spiteful they are? They are missing something in their lives that we Christians have found... the grace of God. Let Jesus into your life, man. You will be amazed at what you find.
Jesus loves you.

Well the bible is the "living" Word of God. I heard a story on relevant radio this weekend about a Jewish man that was on vacation in a hotel when he opened the bible and instead of vacationing he read all of the Gospels the whole weekend. He ended up converting to Catholicism. What a great story! Maybe God is trying to tell you something - Literaly! God Bless you on your journey!

The Word of God (Bible) is alive. This is God's love letter to you. You feel His presence when you read the Bible.
Invite Jesus Christ in your life and He will give you the Holy Spirit. The H.S. will help you understand what you are reading.
The world will disappear or be annihilated but the Word will not disappear.
Matthew 24:35
Psalms 102:26

I read a TD Jakes' (powerful man of God) book that said said we find our comfort in our relationship with our manufacturer. We are the product; God is our manufacturer. Those tears, that humbleness that you feel inside is Him speaking to your heart. He loves you and desires for a relationship w/ you. He knows you better than anyone else and you need Him. Once you've lived w/ Him, life w/out Him is impossible. Don't brush it off. Allow him to minister to your heart. You hear, "God's not real..." on here. Okay...yes, He is. But just say He's not!? Read the Bible....especially the book of John. Try praying to Him. Talk to Him like a friend...nothing formal required. If He "wasn't real," what do you have to lose? And if you have any other questions, feel free to contact me.

Shakespeare, Vonnegut, and Schindler's list do the same for me. So do Confucious and Bertrand Russell.

Beauty is beauty, and there are some good parts of the bible, to be sure.

Tell me, do you get misty eyed with Yahweh orders the slaughter of tens of thousands of men, women and children, and orders that the young virgin daughters be taken as war trophies? Make sure you read the whole thing before thinking it has something extra.

Being religious isn't important. But the joyful tears are the Holy Spirit tugging at you saying...'hey, I'm here anytime you want to let me in.' Religion is more ritual; but spiritual is forever. :>)

That is the Holy Spirit testifying of truth to you. Grab hold to truth and don't ever let go. The Holy Spirit will always testify of truth where ever it is to be found.

Good! This is why:
Hebrews 4:12-13
12For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. 13And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
