what is the best way to breakup with your boyfriend?

I am doing it through e-mail because its long distance and I just don't want to talk to him. I am his first girlfriend and we haven't been together very long(3 months). What do I say?

ok, he is really shy on the phone and we have only talked on the phone once. that is one reason why i am breaking it off. phone just wont work.

Normally I would say do it in person. No email, no phone, no third contact. Since apparently you are long distance. I would encourage you to do it by phone. Email just says that he's not human enough to talk to. It's very impersonal and I hate the cowardice that email, text messages and the phones have created among people to confront others.
