Yorkshire Terriers are part of the "Toy" classification of the AKC. Saying "Toy" Yorkie is redundant.
Why do you need a dog for under $300? If your heart is set on that particular breed of dog for some strange reason, expect to spend closer to $1000 for a healthy one. Healthy puppies are not gotten from pet stores, newspaper ads, backyard breeders, internet ads, etc.
If you can't afford $1000 for a healthy dog, are you prepared to spend $1000 when the dog breaks his leg? Or $1000 for knee surgery when the patella luxation becomes too painful for the dog? Patella luxation is common in poorly bred toy dogs. How bout when the dog eats a bag of chocolate and you are stuck with a $500 emergency vet bill? Can you afford to take time off of work or out of school to nurse a sick dog back to health?

If you are looking for a pup from a breeder---forget it. Unless you find a pup from a good breeder who really likes you and has a dog with a show disqualification, you are out of luck.
The only pup you could find in that price range would come with BIG medical bills later.
If you go through a Yorkie rescue you might be able to find a nice adult, maybe a young adult or older pup, or even a pup.
Look for rescue groups through www.petfinder.com or go to the breed club site www.ycta.org.
Check into rescue and ask around with breeders. Maybe one will have a pup that has been returned.
Please also ask around about how much it will cost to take care of this dog and make sure it fits your budget.
Good luck

I found my little pug through a shelter for animals that are not wanted anymore due to their age or condition. I don't know if you are wanting a younger pup but I got our little lady when she was 5 years old and it was the best decision that I could have made. I recommend 100% to adopt rather then purchasing. You will be giving a dog a loving home and in return you will be getting a best friend! Good luck.

People on here will tell you to adopt a dog from the shelter, they don't care if your mind is made up on what kind of dog you want, they will scorn you for buying the breed you want from someone. It's like if you wanted to buy a ferrari from a car dealer, they would come down on you for not buying the old beat-up used station wagon that's been sitting there. Ignore these melodramatic people. Don't adopt a dog you don't want. Keep trying the classified or even online there are some good breeders.
