Something that might help is Vitamin E oil mixed into his food. I just buy the 400 IU capsules and give one a day by squeezing the oil out of the capsule and into the food. I never thought of the glucosamine for a dog, but I think I would research before giving it to my dog to make sure it is safe and what the possible side effects (if any) might be.

I used the human formula for my 5 Newfs for years, and have recently switched to a horse formula for added savings.
I used the Pain Free bread at Wal-Mart. Worked well. Get a Glucosamine and Chondroitin combo.

I have heard that it is ok to give your dogs glucosamine for their joints. I know some people swear by it for their animals. I'd probably call the vet and ask them just to be on the safe side.

Yes, it's okay for the dog.
I don't understand why you're taking it for your "rebuilt joints" Are you talking about joint replacements, with metal/polyethylene surfaces? If so, save your money. Glucosamine can benefit diseased natural joints by prolonging the life of the remaining articular cartilage, but if it's replaced by metal, there's no benefit.

I gave my older dog a product called Syn-Flex. It is a liquid Glucosamine/MSM that also has yucca (thought to reduce inflamation associated with arthritis) and other all natural good stuff in it. It is perfectly safe for your dog. My dog showed amazing improvement when he was on it. Check out the link:

Yes it is safe for her, but as with anything you give to your dog you should check the doseage with your vet first.

I would phone your vet and ask it the product is okay to use, if it is he will give you the correct dose. Good Luck

Use it in addition to chondroitin (spelling?) and you may wish to add MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) to it as well.
