1) It nearly "erases" my mind from a very bad day at work.
2) It almost always cures loneliness, because someone wants to go along with me sometimes. Or I meet new people while I'm out riding.
3) Many times I feel a lot more relaxed on a bike than in a car, even when I am riding in the big city.
4) I just love the positive psychological effect of knowing that I can go places that motor vehicles can't.
5) Other mental effects.............

Normally find it relaxing and like most exercise makes me feel better and invigorated at the end (once you've recovered!)
Unless you bump into a car or have a puncture - not so much fun. So on average on the mental side a positive A Plus!

Exercise stresses the body, and in turn your hypothalamus releases "feel-good" chemicals into your bloodstream that are very similar to opium. These chemicals make you feel relaxed, happy and calm, and are responsible for the so-called "runner's high."
In addition, regular cycling give you more energy, makes you more alert in general, lets you sleep deeper and boosts your mood even when you're not riding.
In 16 years of riding, I have never come back from a ride feeling sad or angry.

cycling is very good for the mind. in a recent publication from Bicycling mag, cycling enhances your memory and reflexes. it also helps your eyesight, but most of all, its a recreational activity, so it helps clear the mind of stress.
