You may have labyrinthitis, I did. Antivert didn't help me, either.

It will go away after some time, but for some people it can take as long as a year.

some people have reported relief with acupuncture.

You could try some Dramamine, but it will make you sleepy.

I found using Ginkgo Biloba 50mg 3 times a day helped a lot.

If it's any comfort, Celine Dion has it too.

Get yourself to a DR or an emergency room. But don't drive yourself. You need to get a CT Scan done and possibly a MRI just to see if there is any Brain Damage or some sort of swelling. Possibly a tumor.

Scary but one never knows. Better to get it checked out asap.

Did you hit your head in any way? Have you been in an accident that resulted in the vertigo? It could be anything. Head injuries cna take a long time to fix themselves and shouldn't be taken lightly.

Consider adding in some Dramamine 'til you can get back to your doctor. It's very variable, partly depending on the cause, but even among those with the same cause the course is all over the place. Usually in benign causes the episodes get milder, shorter, and less frequent with time, but even that isn't always the case, and if you have something like benign positional vertigo, non-drug treatments may turn out to be more useful in the long haul.
