If you try this web site, there are good answers for your questions in a PDF format.

It's a good read and holds a wealth of information. It explains it better than anyone in here can. Each religion puts a different spin on it. Depends on who's doing the teaching.

Hope this helps.

Most have it right. But the one thing they neglect to mention that the first 3 and one half years of the Great Tribulation will be a time of peace and prosperity. The anti-christ will claim to be God, and many will be deceived. The next 3 1/2 years will be the execution of God's wrath on the earth. the believers will have been caught up by then, and will follow the Lord Jesus Christ to witness the casting of the Devil into a bottomless pit. After 1,000 years, he will be released only to be cast into the Lake of Fire forever.

Great tribulation, aka, time of trouble. A time just prior to the second coming of Christ when the remnant church will be persecuted by the followers of the anti-Christ. Not sure how many churches teach this but one I know does is the Seventh Day Adventist church. Hope that helps.

Those who say that the "rapture" is not mentioned in the Bible are in error. I Thessalonians 4:17 says that we will be "caught up." The Greek word is "harpazo." The Latin word that was translated from the Greek is "rapere" (or variants such as rapiemur), which means to seize violently. Further, the rapture is clearly described in several other passages, 1 Corinthians 15:51-57, II Corinthians 12:2-4, and John 14:1-3 for starters.

Jesus comes back for His church, His "bride" in I Thessalonians 4:17. He meets them "in the air." He later returns to the earth, setting foot on the Mount of Olives, where an earthquake will occur. "And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south." (Zechariah 14:4)

He will then begin to rule and reign over the earth, along with the saints that followed Him from heaven. "Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied about these people when he said, "Look! The Lord has come with countless thousands of his holy ones. He will execute judgment on all people and convict everyone of all the ungodly things that they have done in such an ungodly way, including all the harsh things that these ungodly sinners have said about him." (Jude 1:14-15)

Now, back to the etymology of the word "rapture." Allow me to quote I Thessalonians 4:17 from the Latin Vulgate so that you can see it:

"deinde nos qui vivimus qui relinquimur simul "rapiemur" c u m illis in nubibus obviam Domino in aera et sic semper c u m Domino erimus"

And in the Greek:

"ἔπειτα ἡμεῖς οἱ ζῶντες οἱ περιλειπόμενοι ἅμα σὺν αὐτοῖς "ἁρπαγησόμεθα" ἐν νεφέλαις εἰς ἀπάντησιν τοῦ κυρίου εἰς ἀέρα· καὶ οὕτως πάντοτε σὺν κυρίῳ ἐσόμεθα."

So, regardless of who anyone assumes the discoverer was, or how the concept was discovered in recent history, the fact remains that the word (and the concept of a) rapture is Scriptural. Rapture first, then the Great Tribulation, and the Second Coming later.

It is 7 years of mayhem (war), pestilent, and disasters after the Rapture. Check out the book series called "The Left Behind" as a story reference. In the bible references only one-fourth of the population will survive after earthquakes, famine, etc.

For some Americans, the inability to find great jobs and help sustain themselves. But biblically, it is a time of major troubles that will hit the earth in the near? future when a man will pretend to be god and bring horros on earth. Read the book of Revelation around chapter 7.

The “great tribulation” will come with astounding suddenness, “in one hour.” (Revelation 18:10) Its outbreak will be marked by God’s execution of judgment on all false religion, which God’s Word calls “Babylon the Great.” (Revelation 17:1-6, 15) Ancient Babylon’s dominant feature was false religion. Modern Babylon is like her ancient counterpart and represents the world empire of false religion. She has played the harlot by compromising with the political elements. She has supported their wars and has blessed armies on opposing sides, resulting in people of the same religion slaughtering one another. (Matthew 26:51, 52; 1 John 4:20, 21) She has winked at the corrupt practices of her adherents and has persecuted true Christians.—Revelation 18:5, 24.

The “great tribulation” begins when the political elements suddenly turn on “Babylon the Great.” They “will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.” (Revelation 17:16) Thereafter, her former supporters “will weep and beat themselves in grief over her.” (Revelation 18:9-19)

The Great tribulation is a 7 year period where the world will suffer under the power of the anti-Christ (Satan). When this 7 year period is over God will cast Satan, the anti-Christ, and the false prophet into the lake of fire. Then He (God) will rule the Earth and Heaven for eternity. That spells the end for Satan.
