If I was the last grave stone engraver in America, and had the honor of carving American's gravestone, I would pound-out out this:

Here lies a once great nation that eventually became very fat and very weak. This fat weak state brought a stupitidy so great that eventually all Americans held tightly to the eventually fatal belief that "ALL RELIGIONS ARE INHERENTLY GOOD".

Of course, after writing this I would be beheaded and the stone would be spray painted with ALLUAH AKBAR!

You're probably right. Yikes! Personally, I think the only argument that exists for respecting all religion is because when it comes right down to it - religion doesn't really matter. A person's religion is meant to be a *personal* path (not public) to personal spiritual growth, personal understanding, and the individual relationship between the individual and all that is (i.e. Deity). Of course since most religions just want to take over and force people to convert - you almost wonder if we'd be better off without it.

Now I will ask you the same question: Which arguments do you find that work best for you? What works for me is personal.
BTW I believe that Selma is playing with our heads. Why? Common sense tells you that you will not find happiness in any religion, but only in yourself. Most importantly of all she claims to be Saudi, if that is the case, you need to know that Saudis brag how much more they know about Islam compared to any other Arab Nation; they base this upon the fact Islam was first established in Saudi Arabia. You may get a few honest Saudis here and there, but the majority believe this is so. Be careful when you advise her.

i think of that the air analogy may be unsuitable however the belief in the back of it something to think of roughly. in accordance to you, no longer something exists that isn't have the ability to be measured via one in each and every of our 5 sences, if i'm no longer flawed. That way of questioning isn't being very open minded. that's style of a historical guy asserting that there is not any longer something previous the two or 3 miles that he moved in his international, if he could no longer see it or touch it, it did no longer exist to him. He does no longer think of there grew to become into the rest there because of the fact he had never considered it. Likewise just some hundred years in the past we had no thought that planets outdoors of what we could see and degree the place there. only like the classic guy, if we cant see it, we will not say that it exists? you're the two assuming that we already understand each and every thing, or that we are going to no longer probably learn of something new. only because of the fact technological information says that each and every thing might desire to have a organic clarification does no longer advise that issues that are supernatural do no longer exist. they only have not a thank you to degree them yet. you will proceed to establish that the greater technological information learns the greater they're going to comprehend how a lot we don't understand, and that's my perception that no longer even allowing the opportunity of the supernatural is a extensive mistake on the area of technological information. you may ask many non secular human beings in the event that they have felt something supernatural and many assist you recognize they have. you're ignoring them asserting they're ignorant and it won't have the ability to be obtainable. I do the comparable ingredient with people who declare to have considered alien craft's. If approximately 2/3 of the worlds inhabitants have been to tell me they had considered or felt a alien craft for hundreds of years i think of i could replace my ideas touching directly to the area. only because of the fact i've got no longer considered one does no longer advise that the billions who've have been lieing.

Don't know where you're going with the rest of that statement, but.... The argument for respecting all religions would be that you all agree not to tell each other how ridiculous your myths are when considered from an unbiased viewpoint.

Morpheus,
I will not go into religiosity in order to answer your question.

Here are my arguments, and I will speak for myself:

~ Religion is made by a set of douctrines, dogmas and practices and leads us to a supreme entity as we all know. Therefore, it is made by men.

~ Men need explanation for what science cannot explain yet.

~ Men feel the need of finding comfort for their failure.

~ Since religion is a set of douctrines, dogmas and practices (as i said above), it also dictates your life style, and your routine.

~ Men need the idea of a supreme entity, or many entities, so this idea resolves, mends one's errant ways.

~ Men is compelled to depend with confidence, therefore, place faith. (not as a virtue, op. to a sin as in catholicism).

~ Faith not as a virtue but as the op. to a sin as in catholicism. Please I am not being neither religious, nor do I mean spirituality. This is anthropology.

~ Last but not least: Men project theirself outwards. No one wants bad for theirself cuz no one (sane) thinks they are a bad person. Said that, any religion will always mean good for the ones who chose it. If you do not choose it, you adpt yourself.

Thank you for reading all this and have a nice end of the week.

There is no good argument for religious tolerance... Tolerating religion leads to fanatical fundamentalists being tolerated...and when you tolerate them long enough, they gain a foothold in your country and the next thing you know, they are calling for the beheading of those that have tolerated them thus far... Britain is a perfect example...

Your really not that bright are you. Have you read the constitution? Do you know what it is? America is the constitution. Freedom of religion is a fundamental right. Your statement is proof that you either don't love this country and what it is. Or you are just stupid.

I can't think of one.

The most curious social convention of the great age in which we live is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected.

Nothing is inherently anything. Religion is merely a concept though and not guilty of anything from their own side, it's people who twist religions around or not.
