I was curious about this process and wondering if it can be done part time. If it is free to get the certification etc... I have a Miniature Schnauzer that would be perfect for it I think. He absolutely loves kids... very well behaved (has no temper) Always wants to be loved on. He does lots of cute tricks...sings...talks when asked to or talked to... Or he just talks when he wants attention. (When I say talk.. he does not bark...he just makes cute weird noises... kind of like singing or talking :) If this is something I could volunteer to do part time with him I would be extremely interested in doing so. Would love to hear from people that know anything about the system and the way it works... Who to get in contact with.

Blessings

Contact TDI (Therapy Dogs International). They'll explain to you how you can get your dog certified for TDI, and they also help arrange trips to hospitals, schools and senior homes through their local liaisons.

You can do this on a part-time basis, but you must get your dog certified to be a therapy dog. Basically you have to get the Canine Good Citizen certificate and then do a few more things. Contact a local trainer and they can help you get started.

I used to have a Basset named Watson! We even did visitation some cases (different than one time he stole a senior's muffin......) I advise contacting a number of your interior sight obedience golf equipment - those that do opposition education. in all threat considered one of them will the two do this way of educating, or would be conscious of the place you may decide for greater tips about your section. The Canadian akin to the CGC is the CGN (dogs sturdy Neighbor). Bassets are naturals as medical care dogs.

Contact your vet I sure he/ she can tell you the name of the agency that helps you train dogs in pet therapy. Yes they have to pass a course to be cleared to do that .
