honestly i have done this twice over the years and i would definatly recomend going to a proffessional salon going from dark to blond the first time i tried to go back myself i just made it ten timesworse a few years later when wanting to go back to blond i went straight to a salon as they do know what they are doing depending on your hair you could start off with some highlights and gradually lighten it or some salons can use a type of hair dye remover to strip out the colour first then put a colour on i learnt my lesson the last time and have stayed blond

I dyed my hair black (stupid me...it looked horrible) in Summer 2005. New Year at the end of 2005 I went to the hairdressers and started having it corrected. They did a full head of foils, bleaching my hair, and I had to keep going back and having that done again and again.

First time it was dark brown, and each time I went back they got it lighter and lighter, though for a short time before I'd dyed it black, I'd been dyeing it red, and there were some gingery bits at the ends that came through as they got it lighter. So be warned, if you've dyed it any other colours other than what it is now (particularly red) there may be bits of that still in your hair.

I just had it cut short and choppy and that got rid!

By summer 2006 it was light brown/blonde :) Go to a good hairdressers and they should be able to correct your hair colour. They managed to (gradually) get mine from black to blonde so they should be able to advise you about your hair.

I'm guessing your dark brown was permanent.

So you're going to have to grow out as much of the artificial haircolour as you can, to disguise the regrowth, use semi permanent haircolours, as they fade out, not grow out, and do not damage your hair.

The simplist way to do this is to let your natural hair grow out to a length you're happy with and cut off the dark brown hair on the ends. It's a very long process.

But when it comes time to go blonde, GO TO A HAIRDRESSER.

We know best, you may even be able to go to one now and get it lightened again. Depending how damaged your hair is.

Since you are starting fresh again you will need to "pull" the brown out. This means bleaching. For your first -back to blonde- I would go to the salon. After that you can find a color that works and go with it. I just worry about bleaching and drying out your hair. The professionalls can do it causing less damage.

I'm afraid that you're just going to have to let it grow completely out. The color will always reamain in your hair, because you went from light to dark. I died my hair black about a year a go (from light brown). I've cut my hair several times and I know my hair has grown enough that the color should be out. But some will always remain. Chances are that your hair will always remain brown. Sorry. : (

I'm not really sure what to do if it hasn't come out within 2 years. Have you tried not re-dying it? Eventually if you do this and use regular shampoo and conditioner I think it will come out, but then again im not a hairsylist!

If all else fails, just dye your hair blonde!

u will have to bleach it to strip off any brown in ur hair, should be ok aslong as ur hair is in good condition and u do the strand test before hand, to make sure u get the result u want, unless u wanna go to the salon and then it shouldnt be too much of a problem.

Ok, first thing you have to do is bleach it. Then you will be able to dye it back to blonde. Don't just dye it back you have to bleach it first. I just tryed dyeing mine back to blonde and it lightened up the brown but not that much. I have to bleach it then dye. I talked to my cousin about it who does hair for a living.

I had the same problem except my hair was dyed black, just keep dying your hair lighter colors until you're able to go the blond you want.

hair grows from the roots, the dye would not dye the new hair, so if your roots are not blond, then your hair has changed color (normal to go from blond to brown). If you want to be a blond, you will have to dye it.
