Okay im like freaking out becuz my camera isnt working and i just got it for xmas.
I have a Canon PowerShot A710 and for some reason the screen is only showing this really bright picture with this little blackish dot in the middle and these weird lines and it wont show anything else. This is like a $500 camera and I need to know what's wrong with it becuz i use it a lot...pllllleeeeaaaaassseeee help!!!

Still under warranty, send it in or return it to the store.
B & H Photo has this camera for under $300, so if you gave $500 for it, you got ripped.

Sounds like you've broken the LCD screen, very costly repair not worth doing unless you know a mate who could replace the screen for you.

If it is that new, take it to a certified Canon Repair center and have them look at it.

Take it back to where it was purchased. The person who gifted it to you should have the reciept.
