i am new to computers ,when you download winrar files,how do you open them?,i have downloaded winrar files and not sure how to open them,any 1 help me,many thanks

Yeah, WinRar, is basically a program that compresses one or more files into one single file. This reduces the size of it, so when you download it, its quicker, and you only need to grab the one file. It's pretty much like the most popular compression program: Winzip (http://winzip.com ). Just download the winrar program (use link the other person posted above me). Once you install it, then you should just be able to simply double click the .rar file and it will open up inside the WinRAR program. Then just hit Extract button to pull out the compresses file(s) and restore them to their original version. But pay attention to where it says its going to extract it. By default, it will extract create a new folder, in the same folder that the .rar files is, and extract the files in that new folder. But you can change the location it extracts to by simply clicking the My Computer window pane on left side.

You need the WinRAR program to open RAR files.

1) Purchase Winrar http://www.rarlab.com/
2) Use the free 7-Zip http://www.7-zip.org/
3) ....other programs that support RAR formats

winrar are compressed files, download winrar from http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm (WinRAR 3.62) install it and right click on the file and extract.

just search for win rar on your browser there is a free download at there site or try download.com i had the same problems at the start good luck
