muscle tension, spasms or 'knots'

i keep havin reoccouring knots, mostly in the same place - near my left shoulderblade. i have gotten massages in the past, but that hasn't really helped a lot.

they aren't absolutely painfull, but they are extremly uncomfortable.
during the day if i get a knot it will dissapear from time to time for a duration of a minute or so, but then it comes back. this ordeal usually goes on for a period of 5 days. and i want to know how to get rid of them forever.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN ONE SHOULDER. I BROKE MY COLLAR BONE ON THAT SIDE AS A KID. NOW I ALWAYS HAVE A NICE KNOT ON THAT SIDE. RELAXATION TECHNIQUES
LIKE CONCENTRATING ON THE SPOT AND REPEATING TO YOURSELF HOW RELAXED, LIMP AND FREE THE MUSCLE IS
AS YOU GO TO SLEEP CAN HELP!! I KNOW IT SOUND LIKE
BULLSHIT BUT IT'S A TRANCE TYPE THING THAT WORKS

IF THAT DONT WORK THEM MUSCLE RELAXERS ARE DAMED GOOD !!

Physical therapy is the best way. You have to keep relaxing the muscles to keep them from going into a spasm; which means consistent relaxation treatments of heat and massage. The physical therapist will also give you exercises to do at home until the muscle learns to "let go". If you want to go natural remedy instead of drugs, a combination of calcium, magnesium with magnolia bark and Valerian root is a good muscle relaxant. You can find it at your health food store.

Warmth helps - either a hot bath or warm compresses is the usual remedy. If you can find someone who knows what they're doing, massage is ideal. They're unlikely to go away forever, but reducing your stress level will probably minimize recurrence.

Something your doing everyday is causing it. Take away the cause. I use to get that all the time from being at the PC too much, so I stopped going on it so much and VOILA the problem went away.

Maybe you are low on potassium (can cause muscle cramps)....try eating some bananas and see if it helps....they are rich in potassium.

I also like to soak in my spa bath with epsom salts....pulls soreness out of muscles.

Good luck.
