I am trying to find cheap flights from UK (preferably East Midlands/Birmingham) does anyone know of any good websites? (We only want to go for a weekend).

Your best bet is to check one of the meta search services that are available. Some meta searches just search and compare online travel agencies. The problem here is that most travel agencies add a fee once you get around to make the booking.
Others combine searches from online travel agencies with searches direct with airlines. This is obviously the best as your search will be complete and you get the quote straight from the supplier.
Try www.mytravelsearch.net for travel in Europe. (very strong in Europe with all low cost carriers available)

You shouldn't be flying at all. Flying is by far the most polluting source of transport, and cheap flights are the fastest growing source of greenhouse gases. People who take cheap flights for weekend breaks are selfish and irresponsible and are wrecking the planet.
