Many sports will do that.

Martial arts is a very good choice. Soccer is a good choice.

The best answer is: The sport that you enjoy. If you like the sport, you will get the exercise while focusing on enjoying the sport rather than focusing on the exercise. If you don't like it you are more likely to quit.

Bike riding and swimming will be your most beneficial without any damage to your body. Running is very hard on your joints and spine. With riding what I do is ride 10 miles a day for 2 days and allow my body to rest for a day and then go at it again. I am 48 and stay trim doing this. As far as your diet, if you eat a balanced diet with plenty of protein you will be fine. Someone here mentioned a low fat low carb diet. Do not do this. That person has no clue. When you are exercising like this you need to feed your body, or it will get sick. You do not want to starve your muscles. Your body needs carbs for energy and protein for building muscles. Also pure fruit juices and water. No juice drinks as they are mostly sugar water. Lean beef is the best source for protein. Lean beef won't have a lot of fat, but enough for your body to process the protein to feed and develop your muscles. That is why most vegetarians look sick. But that is another story. Anyway, I hope this helps.

Every sport will do this. Especially if you do it consistently and with enthusiasm.

In addition to exercise, being on a low fat, low carb diet, high water intake can help your body be a lot leaner.

Some of the best sports for burning calories are: Swimming, tennis, raquetball, and Tae Bo (kickboxing). All of these use multiple muscle groups and fast movements. The resistance of water makes swimming especially beneficial, and generally least accident prone sport (unless you can't swim, of course).

Personally, I love Volley Ball, but there is a lot of down time between sets, so you don't keep your heart rate up the way you do with swimming, tennis, and kickboxing.

Any activity can do that if you do it enough. A sport like soccer or basketball, where you're constantly running and moving, will do that well. Cycling, xc skiing, and running will, too. The idea is to get out and get moving.

If you're going fast enough or hard enough that you can't carry on a normal conversation, but have to stop to breathe every 4-5 words, you're in the ballpark. Now keep at it for 45-60 minutes, every day.

Hi swim. If you know how to swim correctly its a lot of fun and a good workout. breathe before you need a breath, push all your air out before coming up for air. You dont sweat in the pool and you can swim for an hour and feel great.
