discrimination that mental health clients face

I think there is a stigma attached to having mental illness. You might hear people say that society has accepted mental illnesses as legitimate medical conditions but I know from personal experience that that simply isn't the case. Doctors treat you differently if they know you have a mental illness. They assume that any medical problem you have is related to your depression or anxiety. Family members assume that you can will yourself out of depression or snap out of it.

Things haven't changed much. There are more drugs and lots of specialists out there for mental health issues but that's about it.

There is no longer any stigma attached to being a mental health client. The population in general is aware that mental illnesses are the same as physical illnesses--and need treatment and understanding.

Okay, some upper-class neighborhoods might not want a mental health center built in their neighborhood--but they are being ignorant (would they rather the mentally ill walk around their neighborhoods unmedicated and untreated?). Besides, plenty of rich people suffer with mental illnesses--they just have the money to go somewhere private for help.

If you are a mental health client, and someone at a clinic, hospital or doctor's office is mistreating you--you need to report them--this is against the law! You do not need to take crap from any doctor, social worker, psychologist, therapist, counselor, etc.

That's only because you wear on your sleeve, you may as well
wear it on your forehead! It's a disease that most of the world
won't own up to. And you courage to own up to & share with others! This being to me as your not so mentally inclined as you think! Sitting in a restaurant the guy/women may have less of a
mentallity than you!
Stop underestimating yourself!!!!!!
