Not all light bulbs, just incandescent ones. There're inexpensive and far less polluting alternatives. No, not whale oil lamps...florescent bulbs.

The alternative for homes is compact fluorescent light bulbs. Readily available, direct replacement, saves money in the long run because they use a lot less electricity to make the same amount of light. Offices already don't use incandescent bulbs, they use fluorescent lights.

It's simply a good idea.

It will save people money in the long run. We'll have to build fewer expensive and polluting power plants. And it will be one useful tool in fighting global warming, although it's hardly a complete solution. Incandescent light bulbs are basically obsolete devices that waste energy. Thomas Edison would no doubt be the first to agree. And no modern office building would dream of using incandescent bulbs.

I think an outright ban is politically unwise. Maybe an energy waste tax of $5 a bulb that goes to fight global warming. It will accomplish pretty much the same thing.

California may have some 'pending legislation' on whether or not to continue using the 'old style' incandescent light bulbs but there are already many 'far more ecologically sound' bulbs that cost 'more' to buy them, but because they last far longer than an 'incandescent' bulb are actually cheaper to run and use far 'less' electricity to light.

I believe so yes...and they are just going to ban old fashion light bulb and use the florenscent one instead.....I can see them doing it.

It is called The "How Many Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb Act" would ban incandescent lightbulbs by 2012 in favor of energy-saving compact fluorescent lightbulbs.

It wouldn't surprise me. They make all kinds of crazy laws there so banning incandescent light bulbs would be normal for California. They would most likely use florescent bulbs instead.

As a sales man or woman for a lights distributor, i'm extremely compared idea. It not in hardship-free words takes away our rights, yet looks completely ridiculous IMHO. particular, we do save electricity, yet there are numerous applications as to which a CFL/FL gained't in superb condition (or look solid) interior particular environments, no matter if commerical or residential. it really is undesirable adequate that we already have identify 24 (regulation in which we are meant to apply atleast 50% of FL in kitchens...i imagine). i imagine this lawmaker extremely ought to spend a three hundred and sixty 5 days attending to understand all the professionals and cons of lights customarily (there's a lot to study).

Don't think so. Although I may be wrong, they tend to do crazy things there.

My guess is that they will pass a law that requires lightbulbs to use only a small amount of watts before they ban them
