I just got an HDTV. I pop in a DVD and it doesn't look that great. I have 800 dvd's. I wasn't to happy. I saw DVD Upconverter's advertised in the paper for around $100. Is it worth the price?

Does my Xbox 360 already upconvert DVD's?

Is an upconverter just a progressive scan DVD player?

Should I play my DVD's (with whatever player I end up chosing) in 720p or 1080i?

Lots of questions!!!!!
Thank You

DVDs should look great on any HDTV, even the cheap ones, unless you went and bought a pretty bad one.

Make sure though you use component output from your DVD player (red/green/blue video cables).

The TV itself can do all the upconversion, no need to waste your money on upconverter players. Play DVDs in either 480i or 480p and let the TV do all the scaling.
