I'm 20 and my boyfriend is 17. I think it's perfectly fine as long as you're sure that you're mentally and emotionally ready for it. Plus, depending where you live, a three year difference may be legal. And if it isn't, then just don't tell anyone who may tell the authorities

First, I want to congratulate you for soberly reflecting on this decision, it shows you to be a thoughtful, mature person.

Over the course of my life, I have discovered that I have NEVER once regretted NOT having sex with someone, but I HAVE regretted having sex on more than one occasion.

If you remove the impending deployment to Iraq, what is your decision now? Would you wait a bit longer? Give in just as soon?

Since you're asking this question, I suspect your virginity is much more important to you then it is to your boyfriend and you may well find yourself more emotionally involved then you want to be if you do decide to have sex.

If you decide not to have sex, be prepared for him to increase the emotional pressure on you as his deployment date approaches, but don't allow that to change your mind. The odds are very good that this person is not the "love of your life" and you should make this choice based on what is good for you - not what is good for someone else.

By the way - in case no ones told you this, a woman's first time is generally not that fun - it hurts, there's often blood and forget about an orgasm. Usually it takes a lot of practice and a loving, gentle, compassionate (or at least skilled) partner before you actually learn to like sex. On the other hand, a guy will pretty much enjoy himself no matter what.

I'd wait. The thing is...do you love your boyfriend....or just lust him. Well here in Tx. 17 is concidered a legal adult. I know sometimes I just wanna sleep with my boyfriend, but theres always the risk that I'll get pregnant. If I were you, I'd wait, what if you got pregnant while he's in Iraq? Oh well it's your choice.

Good luck

Not only is your boyfriend subject to state laws, he is subject to military justice as well. The Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) prohibits contact of a sexual nature with anyone under the age of 18. In addition, your mail to him can be read if censorship rules are in effect (which may be possible in Iraq).

You could inadvertently reveal the sexual relationship in personal communication. I would avoid taking it to that level until you reach 18.

1. He may be dead in a month, and then you may have to explain what you did to your future husband. And for what?

2. Based on your question, I assume that you don't know that you could get pregnant, and then you would be bringing a fatherless child into the world. Our country has enough children without fathers.

3. You have know him a month? Good grief, you don't even know the person.

4. Finish school.

Well he would be breaking military regulattions so I dont think you should. Relax and wait til its the right time. Iraq is not a death sentance by any stretch of the truth. I wish you well and hope it all comes out for the best.

you should wait. however 17 is legal in most states, and hard to prove even if it isn't, If he is going to Iraq, he would be stupid to sleep with you and then go over there, because it would be like poping the cork on a bottle of wine, and setting it in a window. Unless he doesn't really care for you.

I am currently in iraq if you plan on staying with him and not screwing around on him like most military girlfriends/wives do then have sex with him but if you plan on running around after that then just save it for the next guy and break it off with him now. Its not easy here and the last thing he needs is woman stress! where is he based out of?

ARE YOU SURE THIS IS THE ONE??? If you aren't POSITIVE that this is the man for you, you shouldn't. There is always that posibility that you could get pregnant. And,........he would be over in Iraq? Then,....what would you do? And,...at 17, are you really old enough to be a mother?

Honey, jump his bones with vigor and delight. He will not be arrested (less than a 4 year age difference and he is fine - plus the age of consent is at least 16 in every state), and believe me, you will feel so much better (plus it feels really good)
