It might be dehydration. If you sleep with your mouth open you can really get dried out, especially in the winter with the heater on. Try drinking a glass of water before bed and see if it helps.

There could be a number of reasons why you could be having a headache. The most probable reason though is: Headaches that are present when you wake up in the morning or get up from a nap may be caused by bruxism or clenching and grinding teeth during sleep. Or you could be having a hang over. LOL

The cause of waking up with a "headache" is sometimes attributed to,low blood sugar, dehydration, alcohol consumption especially wine,I don't mean drunkenness, wine affects many people.Sinus infection and allergies, strained neck position during sleep. You can try to document the headaches,to analyze a "pattern",and do some research on how to prevent or lessen them, and if all else fails, see your MD. Take care. SW RNP

You could be grinding your teeth in your sleep. I do this all the time and I wake up with headaches 3-4 days a week. Go to the dentist and ask them to fit you for a mouth guard. It will help

You may have a teeth grinding problem. When people begin grinding their teeth in their sleep, the pressure causes pain in the skull that is not felt in the sleep. That could be why you're waking up with a headache.

You could be allergic to your pillow or something in your room. It could be sinus related in which case breathe rite nasal strips might be worth trying. I would consider switching to a hypoallergenic pillow or buy a allergy type cover for your pillow and try the nasal strips. Also sleeping to long can cause headaches or not getting enough sleep.

Doctors call them turtle headaches. Your neck is probably bent down toward your chest as you sleep. That lessens the amount of oxygen to your brain. Try positioning your head higher on your pillow to include your shoulder blades. It will makes it easier for you to breathe.

Headaches that wake you up at night are associated with brain tumors. I would get in touch with your doctor to get checked out particularily if you are having other symptoms also such as double vision.

I would not wait on this until Wednesday. Perhaps go to the ER if you haven't noticed any improvement. This needs to be checked right away. Hope you are o.k. and have a speedy recovery.
