It does not necessarily mean that is it skin cancer. But it does sound very suspicious. Because it could be. You really need to see a Doctor. The best choice would be a dermatologist.

Here is what I found on yahoo. The ABCD is really helpful in determining if you should have a spot evaluated or not!
The most important warning sign for melanoma is a change in size, shape, or color of a mole or other skin growth, such as a birthmark. Watch for changes that occur over a period of 1 month to 1 or 2 years. Use the American Cancer Society's ABCD rule to evaluate skin changes, and call your health professional if you have any of the following changes. 5
A is for asymmetry. One half of the mole or skin growth doesn't match the other half.
B is for border irregularity. The edges are ragged, notched, or blurred.
C is for color. The pigmentation is not uniform. Shades of tan, brown, and black are present. Dashes of red, white, and blue add to the mottled appearance. Changes in color distribution, especially the spread of color from the edge of a mole into the surrounding skin, also are an early sign of melanoma.
D is for diameter. The mole or skin growth is larger than 6 mm (0.2 in.), or about the size of a pencil eraser. Any growth of a mole should be of concern.

You need to go to the doctor to get it checked out, If it is cancer it will grow, it may be something else, like an age spot or a sun spot. Good Luck

It is possible it could grow larger in a years time , is best to watch it show a nurse at a local hospital or call ask a nurse , what really matters is color , but get it checked out , but i wouldn't worry to much until i let a Dr or nurse see it .

.Have the spot checked out by a dermatologist as soon as you can. It could be very serious if it is a melanoma.
. I've been down that road before.

If you didn't get it removed and treated. What do you think? Not only would it get bigger on your skin, it would spread through out your body, which is called metastasizing. You'll die.
