Hi everyone, a Korat is a cat - with green eyes silver grey fur (colour is called 'blue'). It's one of the 'good luck cats' from Thailand & has been described as "....the hairs are smooth, with roots like clouds and tips like silver. The eyes shine like dewdrops on the lotus leaf."
You can find out more about them on these websites:
http://www.moggies.co.uk/breeds/korat.html
http://www.korats.org.uk/
I'm not sure why there are not so popular as other cats - only 107 kittens were registered with the GCCF in 2005 ... it may be because certain other breeds are gaining in popularity at the moment .. like Maine Coons, Bengals, Tonkinese & Selkirk Rexes. The most 'popular' cat seems to be the British Shorthair:

It could be that with so few cats around it is difficult for a hobby breeder/shower with maybe only the one queen to find a stud cat? Who knows. They are certainly pretty cats though & that Moggies website makes them sound adorable.

Korats were villified at the turn of the century and many left our shores never to return. Somewhat disapointing as they were masters of thier trade and performed a valuable service to the community
