Unfortunately you have to either take Tylenol and just eat soft foods until the pain disappears. It will take about 2-3 days. Sorry...good luck. :)
Try massaging your gums.

Its been about 2 weeks i had braces, and I must say in the first 3 days ,it pained me too much. Every time I clenched my upper and lower teeth accidentally, it gave a shocking pain. I could only eat rice with pulse,no chapatis. But gradually on the 4th and 5th day pain was reduced to a large extent. I started eating chocolates , chips and even vegetables. Now its quite under control. So if it hurts you too in the initial days ,don't panic ,its normal. Pain reduction depends on individuals adoption. A suggestion- when your ortho fits the braces , do check that no extra wire emerges out of the ring from the back else it'll continuously hurt you cheeks. All the best. Happy Braces!!!

I know how you feel. I've already had braces but I know how they feel. Try eating ice cream like a shake and swish it in your mouth. If you can't go buy a shake then I know a really good way to make a chocolate shake. lots of ice cream, milk, chocolate, and a banana. Miw them in a mixer and then get it to the kinda taste you think is right. then make a whole bunch of it and watch a movie or read a book or listen to music. somethin to get your mind off the pain. or get jello or other stuff thats really cold, like an ice cube and rub it across where ever it hurts. Hope I helped.
almost forgot, if the inside of your lip hurts from the braces rubbing than try to find some morgan bumpers, I play clarinet and went to a band camp, it was killer on my lip, morgan bumpers saved my lip from getting a hole worn through it! seriously.

I know how you feel the first 2 days suck. There is a spray you can get from drug stores called Chloraseptic it was originally used for sore throats but works great on the inside of your mouth where the braces rub.
Chewing solid foods right now would be really irritating so buy loads of soup and yougrt so you don't starve.
You can watch a movie or something to take your mind off it for a while. Trust me when they finally come off its so worth it. : )
Good luck.

There is nothing you CAN do. The brackets are pulling your teeth with a strong force. Its bound to hurt. Try some stronger painkillers. Im sorry theres nothing I can do to help! It will subside in a few days or so.

i remember when i had braces my orthodontist gave me a rubber bite-plate to bite into, it would help ease the pain for a while. you should be okay in a few days (that is until the next tightening), but i would definitely ask your orthodontist for a bite plate. it really helped me. good luck, the pain does subside eventually.

Its gonna hurt for a few days...I recommend you take a few Ibuprofen, eat soft foods and relax...it'll go away..this is one of the ONLY times it'll hurt this bad,..your teeth are adjusting to the pressure of the wire and it'll hurt...the next time you get them tightened, it'll only hurt for a day or so..but not as bad as this time
